The Hardy County Tour and Craft Association is already gearing up for the 62nd annual Heritage Weekend! Slated for September 25-27th, board members are already working hard to make this event bigger and better than last year. With several new events headed your way, members are also hoping to make old events better than ever.
One of the main focuses of this annual event is the Homes Tour. Visitors and locals alike enjoy seeing the historic homes on display and learning about their history. “We are still seeking nominations for the 2015 tile house, with preference going to a home from the eastern part of the county,” said Kriston Strickler 2015 Chairperson. The Tile House is a long standing and honored tradition and all of the tiles from previous years are on display at the Hardy County Public Library.
If you, or someone you know, has a historic home that would be a valued addition to the 2015 Heritage Weekend Homes Tour or would be a great Tile House, please get in contact with the Tour and Crafts Association. “The tile house must be open on both Saturday and Sunday, but other homes can opt for being open for just one of the days, if they choose” said Strickler.
Having your home open for Heritage Weekend is a great way to get involved in the 62 year old Hardy County tradition. It also is a great way to give back to the community, as proceeds from the event go to the Hardy County Public Library and other local non-profit organizations promoting the culture and history of Hardy County.
Please direct nominations for the 2015 Tile House to Kriston Strickler at 304.257.6192 or email heritageweekend@hardynet.com.
