Join us for Heritage Weekend’s NEW Pinewood Derby, where racers of all ages are invited to build, race, and compete for prizes in this exciting family-friendly event.
No car? No problem! Free build-your-own Pinewood Derby car kits will be available while supplies last. Participants are encouraged to arrive early for the 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. build-and-race sessions to assemble their cars before hitting the track. Best of all, you get to take your car home after the event! Already have a Pinewood Derby car? Bring it along and compete in our Bring Your Own Car Race at 5 p.m. Awards will be presented to the top racers. For fair competition, all pre-built cars must meet standard Pinewood Derby size and construction guidelines. Cars will be inspected prior to racing.
Whether you’re a first-time racer or a seasoned Pinewood Derby enthusiast, this event offers friendly competition, prizes, and fun for all ages. Bring the whole family and help us kick off what we hope will become a new Heritage Weekend tradition!

Car Construction
• Use the official pinewood derby kit (wood block, wheels, and axles).
• The car must be powered only by gravity. No motors, springs, propellants, or starting devices are allowed.
• The car must be free-wheeling and safely constructed.
Common Size and Weight Limits
• Maximum weight: 5.0 ounces (141.7 g).
• Maximum length: 7 inches.
• Maximum width: 2¾ inches.
• Minimum ground clearance is often 3/8 inch so the car doesn’t rub on the track. Wheels and Axles
• Official wheels and axles from the kit are typically required.
• Bearings, bushings, and washers are generally prohibited.
• Most races allow polishing axles and smoothing wheel imperfections, but major wheel
modifications may be restricted.
• Only dry lubricants such as graphite are commonly allowed; liquid oils are usually
prohibited.
• All official rules will be posted on site.
