The Hardy County Rod & Gun Club presents its annual Turkey Shoot on Saturday of Heritage Weekend at 10 am at the Hardy County Rod & Gun Club, located at 60 South Fork Estates III Rd. Moorefield, WV 26836
The Turkey Shoot is open to all persons who fire a Muzzleloader style gun. All matches are elimination style with prizes for each match won and overall 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prizes. There is a $10 fee to enter the contest (but free to watch) and sign-ups will start at 8 am.
Quick and dependable the muzzle loading of flintlocks provided security for the frontier family. Today the skill persists as a sport enjoyed by gun enthusiasts around the world in competition more challenging than the common shooting range contests. Targets shot at typically include items like playing cards, charcoal briquettes, suckers, straws, rubber bands, balloons, etc.
